Biographical/Administrative Information: | Professor Norman Capon was educated at Liverpool College and Liverpool University, where he graduated MB, Ch.B with first class honours and distinction in medicine, obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1916, and MD in 1921. He specialised in pediatrics and rapidly established a high reputation in this field, culminating in his appointment to the chair of Child Health at Liverpool University in 1944. He was an original member of the British Pediatric Association of which he later became president. Although commitments at the School of Medicine prevented Professor Capon from enlisting until 1916, he was much involved with early recruiting arrangements for the University contingent of the Comrades Batallion following the outbreak of World War I. |
