Biographical/Administrative Information:

Dr John Williams (1894-1971) graduated BA in Philosophy at the University of Liverpool in 1916. During some of his undergraduate years he served as a member of the Council of the Guild of Undergraduates. During 1919-1918 Mr Williams served, as a member of the RAMC, with the BEF in France, being awarded the Military Medal and commissioned in the Artillery. After the war, he returned to study medicine at Liverpool, graduating MB ChB in 1923.

Mrs Florence Williams (nee Forshaw) (1894-1962) graduated BA Honours in Geography in 1917. She too served as a member of the Council of the Guild of Undergraduates, and was a Vice-President in Session 1916-1917. She taught at St Bees (1917-1921), Penrhos College, Colwyn Bay (1921) and Clitheroe and Blackburn High School for Girls before leaving in 1923 to marry Dr John Williams.

Dr and Mrs Williams eldest son, David (b. 1926) entered the Liverpool Medical School in 1943 at the minimum age of 17 years and graduated MB ChB in 1949
