Summary: | Transcript of part of interview of Col E A Rose re his memories of Prof H S Hele-Shaw (Professor of Engineering, University College 1886-1904), and re his research at the University of Liverpool c. 1899. Recorded 19 July 1974This extract (D93/1) recounts an amusing incident whereby Professor Hele-Shaw was driving a car behind a man carrying a red flag, when the car failed and began to go backwards. The Professor was summoned for having a vehicle on the road without being preceded by a man with the red flag. |

Biographical/Administrative Information: | Colonel Rose gained a B.Sc of the Victoria University in 1898 whilst a student at University College, Liverpool, later the University of Liverpool in July 1904 he was awarded a B. Eng. Colonel Rose changed his surname from Rosenheim to Rose during the course of World War I when the army informed him he could not be posted to France so long as he was named Rosenheim. |
