Summary:Typescript letter in which Walter outlines his view on the question of Amyus Sampson enlisting in the Canadian Regiment. Walter strongly urged active participation in the war and the prospect of anybody rendering "real service" to the country. His support was therefore freely given. Walter also puts forward his opinion on the USA's entry [April 1917] to the war. Sampson believed that the USA's entry on the side of the Allies would precipitate the end of hostilities. Walter, however adopted a contrary stance believing that it might actually "prolong it rather than the reverse."
