Summary: | Manuscript letter pertaining mainly to a plan, suggested by John Sampson, to send his son, Amyus, to Canada to work and Walter's response to the plan. Walter goes into some detail as to the potential success of such a venture and outlines the options open to Amyus given the "unsettled" economic climate pervading in Canada at that time. Although he considered that the "commercial and financial situation" was showing "some improvement", he expressed "no feeling of security for the future." Indeed, he felt "that a cataclysm may occur at any time." However, he was confident that he would be able to use his "influence" to secure his nephew a position with one of the local banks should he wish to proceed with the proposed plan. |
