Arrangement:

The present list relies heavily on a survey of the material carried out in the early 1970s by Adrian Allan, then Assistant University Archivist, when the records were in the Department of Education.

Sections D728/1-5 are groupings of the contents of the individual box files or volumes received by the Department of Education in 1971. It is understood that these box files were as arranged by Professor Campagnac. This list therefore retains the order of contents of these original box files (which accounts for the inaccurate chronology in some instances). Note that the actual numbers on the box files (1-23) were allocated by the Department of Education (and used subsequently by Adrian Allan in his survey), and were not Prof. Campagnac's own).

The descriptions of the contents of each box given between inverted commas ("...") are those provided by Adrian Allan.

Custodial History:The papers were originally deposited with the Education Library in Nov 1971 by Mrs Campagnac (widow of Prof Campagnac), then of Chipping Camden.
