Summary:

Carnell thanks EFR for an unnamed article which Carnell refers to as The Appreciation, (of John Wood Campbell); he thanks EFR for sending him a copy of his non-fiction book Great World Mysteries; he describes the processes behind the World Science Fiction Convention; Carnell asks EFR whether he would consider shortening his novel WASP for serial publication in New Worlds, and describes the novel as a "first-class action-packed spy story” rather than science fiction; discusses the London World Science Fiction Convention, which EFR and his wife Ellen, will be attending; reports that he has arranged an interview for John Campbell on BBC television's Tonight programme; Carnell asks whether he would second the nomination for Dave Newman as a Trans-Atlantic Fan Fund candidate, and write a short appreciation for Newman; he says that he has some movie footage of EFR and Ellen at the London convention; he reports that Dobson are concerned that the serial publication of WASP may adversely affect sales of their book edition; EFR offers to write the synopses - usually written by Carnell - for the installments of WASP; he asks EFR for a photograph of himself and an autobiographical article for the Profile section in New Worlds, and wonders if EFR would object to a cover painting of his face; Carnell mentions how he thought EFR had originally written WASP "under duress” for Avalon.
