Also inlcuded is a typescript copy of the article and a letter from David Pollard, Editor to DO dated 25 Apr 1984 enclosing a copy of the article, DO's reply, also enclosed, says "it is one of the best interviews that has been done for a long time".

DO discusses his beginnings in politics, the politics of the West Country, his Plymouth constituency and his early defeat as a candidate for the Labour Party at Torrington. He also discusses his defection from the Labour Party, his attitutude towards Michael Foot and the SDP's formation. He goes on to discuss the current political situation, talking about the European Community, the NHS, the economy and the possibility of a coalition government.
