These minutes form a record of the Cunard White Star Ltd Executive Committee. Each volume is indexed alphabetically. Cunard White Star Ltd was formed in 1934 as a result of the merger of the Cunard Steamship Co Ltd and the Oceanic Steam Navigation Co Ltd (White Star Line). Note that the minutes of the Executive Committee of the Cunard Steamship Co Ltd continue from 1934 onwards at D42/B4. On 21 Jul 1948 the name of the committee changed to the Executive and Finance Committee. It was intended to deal with the company's general business and to report to the Cunard White Star Board. The type of subjects which appear in the index include shipbuilding, repair and fitting out, and staffing matters (retirement, resignation, sickness, promotion, obituaries).
