Wilfred H. Hudleston: 1828 - 1909.

• Born at York on 2 June 1828
• Educated at York, Uppingham, and St. John's College, Cambridge.
• Travelled as an ornithologist, chiefly in Scandinavia, including Lapland, Greece, Turkey, and Algeria, between 1853-1860.
• Subsequently became interested in geology.
• Was made Secretary to the Geological Society1886-1890; President,1892-1894;
• Wollaston medallist;
• President of the Geological Section of the British Association, 1898.
• Died 29 January 1909
