Summary:

Here, Newmark speaks of the length of time that has passed since sending his subscription for the next volume of the Johnsonian Gleanings, and enquires about it. He mentions that his attempts to circulate the second volume of the Gleanings amongst the community of colour of Los Angeles has been unsuccessful (see ALR.B.1.21.2) ; likewise, his correction of an error concerning the listing of Johnson's Rambler in various German magazines, which he sent to the Times Literary Supplement , has not yet appeared, and he enquires if Reade knows how to follow this up. He also states that the St Francis Hotel is most likely to be his residence for the near future.
