Summary:This first quarter of the collection groups together all of the works produced by Aleyn Lyell Reade. This includes works of both an autobiographical, and a professional nature. The former group is by far the smaller, comprising only an autobiography and a war diary, but these are highly detailed and invaluable sources. The latter group is much greater in size, comprising a total of forty-eight items. While these items include un-published pedigrees and bound volumes collecting together press-cuttings of contributions made by Reade to various publications, the main focus of his professional work is the completion of his Johnsonian Gleanings and its accompanying volume, The Reades of Blackwood Hill. Thus much of the professional works comprise prospectuses for these studies, and the actual volumes themselves.
