Biographical/Administrative Information:

Reverend Wilfrid L. P. Float (b.1884 d.1983) came from an upper middle class family who were land owners in North Wales and Anglesey. He was ordained in 1907 and, after being a Vicar in North Yorkshire and Derbyshire, was appointed Vicar of High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire in 1925. He retired in 1950 to live in Sussex. Wilfrid married Nancy Taylor in 1963. Nancy had been a parishioner in High Wycombe.

Wilfrid was a great traveller, visiting the Holy Land in 1907 and Russia in 1913, as well as touring Europe and the Unites States. He was a founder member of Rotary International in the United Kingdom, and became a personal friend of Paul Harris, the American founder of the movement.

Nancy Float (nee Taylor, b. [1909?] d.1990) was also well travelled.  At one time employed as a personal music teacher to a wealthy family, she would travel with them on trips to the US and Canada.
