Summary:

Formerly: Interim House Committee of the Postgraduate Club 1967-68; House Committee of the Postgraduate Club 1968-70; Postgraduate Club Committee 1970-72; Postgraduate Club Management Committee 1972 -

At the first meeting of the Interim House Committee the Registrar stated that senior members of the University had long felt that postgraduate students had need of a common meeting ground other than the Students' Union. It had therefore been decided to incorporate premises with the Alsop Building and a Special Committee, set up primarily to advise on the organisation and administration of a postgraduate hostel, had made some recommendations on the administration of the Club. At its meeting on 8 Nov. 1967 the Senate appointed the Interim House Committee to act as the Club's Management Committee.

The title of the Committee has been changed several times - from the Minutes of 3 Dec. 1968 onwards it was entitled the House Committee of the Postgraduate Club, from the Minutes of 3 Dec. 1970 onwards the Postgraduate Club Committee, and from the Minutes of 24 April 1972 its current title of the Postgraduate Club Management Committee. Though appointed by the Senate the Committee reports to both the Council and the Senate.
