According to Vatican Archives: An Inventory and Guide to Historical Documents of the Holy See edited by Francis X. Blouin (OUP, 1998, pp.341-2), the Instrumenta Miscellanea "are cameral in content. There are original procurations, obligations and payments made by bishops and abbots, inquests, accounts of the papal household and of collectors, as well as the correspondence of Cameral officials." The bibliographic references from this book suggest that some of these documents may of interest to researchers of English and Irish history, possibly explaining why Rideout had these documents copied. |
