Summary: | These papers and photographs of the late Hugh Oak-Rhind relate to his research on the clay tobacco pipe industries of Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Northamptonshire, Suffolk and Wiltshire. The papers form his contribution to a National Clay Pipe Stamp catalogue being assembled by P. Davey and D. A. Higgins in the Field Archaeology Unit in the Departments of Ancient History and of Continuing Education. |

Separated Material: | Mrs Oak-Rhind has donated her husband's collections of pipes and pipe fragments to museums in the areas of their original manufacture. As of November 1987, material has been sent via the Wiltshire Library and Museums Service to museums in Buckingham, Ipswitch, Norwich, Northampton, Exeter, Winchester, London, Woodstock (Oxon), Colchester and Glasgow. The Wiltshire Museum service retains the material from that county. |
