Custodial History:D148/1 were given by the City Solicitor 6 July 1976 and 31 Jan. 1977; D148/2 was made from the original loaned by Halewood and Sons, Booksellers, Preston, 11 June 1976; and D148/2 was generously given to the University by Dr. Alan Waterworth, Kinglsey, Cheshire, in December 2001 (when he received an honorary doctorate of laws (L.L.D.)) and deposited by the Registrar in August 2002.

Biographical/Administrative Information:In June 1856, Mr Richard Vaughan Yates, the creator of Prince's Park, Liverpool, created a trust to which he conveyed the central area of the park for the building and maintaining `a College or University'. Mr Yates died in November 1856 and the trust was not executed.
