The Board of the Diploma in Education was established by Ordinance XV (see Calendar 1903-4 pp. 103-4) which was approved by the Council at its meeting on 24 Nov. 1903 (and sanctioned by the Court). Part of its membership was appointed by the Council. The Board's proceedings were laid before the Faculties of Arts and Science, and the Senate.

The Minutes are in MS. except those of 16 March 1920 which are typescript.

Into this volume are pasted or affixed various papers including printed Regulations for the Diploma in Education (approved by the Senate 21 March 1904), amended draft Regulations 1903-4, amended draft Scheme for the training of Student Teachers of the Liverpool and East Liverpool High Schools of the Girls Public Day School Company 1904, memorandum of Prof. Campagnac on examinations and assessment of Diploma students 1914, draft Ordinances and Regulations relating to the Department of Education 1915, copy of Report of H.M. Inspectors on the Secondary Training Department of the University 1915, suggested syllabus of hygiene for educational students in training 1915, copy of the University Council's amendments of the Ordinance and Regulations relating to the Diploma in Education 18 May 1915.
