In October 1894 the Revd. S. A. Thompson Yates undertook to provide combined Physiological and Pathological Laboratories. The Thompson-Yates Laboratories were formally opened by Lord Lister on 8 October 1898.

Pasted in is a letter from the Revd. S. A. Thompson Yates, 43 Phillimore Gardens, London, W., to Professor Paterson giving brief details of expenditure on the laboratories and expressing the pleasure the building of them has given him, 10 June 1901.
