Biographical/Administrative Information: | Dr. Rostron entered the University in October 1948. During the first Session he took the Intermediate B.Sc. course in Physics and Chemistry, this course being mandatory for students who had completed National Service. He took the Normal B.Sc. Course, Parts I and II, in the following two Sessions and the B.Sc. Honours course in Physical and Inorganic Chemistry in Session 1951-52. During Sessions 1952-53 to 1953-54 he undertook post-graduate research on Electrochemical Periodicity and in 1958 was awarded the Ph.D. for his thesis on Electrochemical Periodicity (copy in Harold Cohen Library, University of Liverpool, ref. Box 1313). Upon completing his research at the University in 1954, Dr. Rostron was employed on the staff of Monsanto Chemicals (1954-57), and then on the staff of the Arthur D. Little Research Institute, Inveresk, Musselburgh, Lothian (1957-71). Since 1971 Dr. Rostron has been teaching in a school. |
