Biographical/Administrative Information: | Dr. Hugh S. Pemberton (1890-1956) studied Medicine at the University of Liverpool, graduating MB,ChB. in 1913. He was awarded the George Holt Medal for Physiology in 1911. Dr. Pemberton spent the whole of his professional career at one hospital, the David Lewis Northern Hospital, Liverpool, commencing as a Clinical Clerk, later serving as Assistant Physician (1919-23) and then Physician (1923-55), retiring in May 1955. He was a Lecturer in Clinical Medicine for thirty-one years. He was known internationally for the diabetic clinic which he established and for the systematic training in dietetics which he organised. |
