Biographical/Administrative Information:

Mr Alan Farrimond Ogden became a student at the University of Liverpool in 1943, and graduated as a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering on 9 January 1946. In accordance with the regulations prescribed within the University Calendar, Ogden had to satisfy the following criteria in order to obtain his degree. During his degree he would have to study subjects including Maths, Strength of Materials, Theory of Machines and Hydraulics, Design and Drawing. As part of the Honours School in Mechanical Engineering for his final year he would have to complete subjects including Design and Drawing, Strength of Materials and complete four papers from the following options: Theory of machines, Heat engines, Thermodynamics, Power Plants and distribution of power, Hydraulics and hydraulic machinery and Generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy.

After graduating, Alan F. Ogden was employed at the Marine Engine Design Office of Vickers-Armstrong (Engineers) Ltd, Barrow-in-Furness from 1948-1963. He died on 24 March 1986.
