Biographical/Administrative Information:

Mr Alexander Kenneth Moffatt Meek (1905-80) studied at the University of Liverpool, October 1923 onwards graduating B.Sc. Honours in Chemistry in July 1926. He was previously educated at Mill Hill School.

He served in the army and during World War II was a Captain in the Royal Army Service Corps. He joined the family business of Bellis and Meek, wholesale importers of fruit and vegetables, of Great Charlotte Street, Liverpool. When the business premises were required for the redevelopment of this part of Liverpool, he retired to the Lake District; latterly he lived at Colwyn Bay and died in 1980.

These medals were awarded to Mr Meek as a member of the University's O.T.C. A nephew of Mrs. Owen holds a silver medal awarded to Mr. Meek in 1926.
