Biographical/Administrative Information:

Mr David J. Lawrence enrolled as a student in the Faculty of Arts in October 1925 and resided at St.Aidan's College, Birkenhead (of which he became Senior Student in 1928). He graduated BA in July 1928, the subjects for his degree being Modern History (his main subject), Ecclesiastical History (the lectures being given at St.Aidan's College by the Vice-Principal, the Revd. F.B. Heiser), Philosophy, and Latin. Following graduation, Mr Lawrence studied for the priesthood at Ridley Hall, Cambridge, returning to St.Aidan's College to serve as a tutor in 1930-31.

Mr Lawrence was ordained a deacon in 1931 and a priest in 1932 and his initial ministry was in the Diocese of Birmingham, as Curate of St.Francis, Bournville, 1931-33. His last living was as Rector of Wormley, Hertfordshire, 1966-75; from 1975 onwards, he was licensed to officiate in the Diocese of Aberdeen.
