Custodial History:Professor Gunstone deposited these papers in response to the appeal in Convocation Annual Report 1986.
Related Material:In 1972-73 the widow of Emeritus Professor T.P. Hilditch deposited his research and other papers with the University Archives (ref.D43): see list. They include photographs taken at the reunion of his students in 1951 (see D388/2/1).
Separated Material:In addition to the publications etc, which Professor Gunstone has given to the University Archives, he retains the following papers relating to his career at the University, some or all of which he hopes in due course also to give or to lend (for photocopying) to the University Archives:(i) Undergraduate lecture notes.(ii) Some examination papers and answer scripts.(iii) Laboratory record books in each of the three branches of chemistry.(iv) Some postgraduate laboratory notes.

Biographical/Administrative Information:Professor Gunstone entered the University of Liverpool in Sep 1940 and graduated BSc Hons in Chemistry, Class 1, in Jul 1943 and Ph.D in Jun 1946. He held a Senior city Scholarship, awarded by Liverpool Education Committee for sessions 1940-1942 and a Colonial Products Research Council Scholarship/grant for 1943-1946. He was appointed Honorary Campbell Brown Scholar by the University Senate in July 1943
