Summary:

Article for the Mail on Sunday by DO, marked "not used". Also inlcuded is a typescript of theĀ Annual George Woodcock Lecture, delivered by DO at Leicester University on 14 Jan 1982

Concerns the TUC conference in Blackpool and the reform of the TUC away from its complete support of the Labour Party. DO goes on to outline the critical reforms as he sees them. These are: the break from the Labour Party; the need for trade unions to be answerable to regulation by law and the need to reform the "archaic collective bargaining system". Closes the article by talking about the links which an alliance government (SDP-Liberal Alliance) would forge with the unions.
