Biographical/Administrative Information:John Owen worked at the University of Liverpool from 1976-1990. He was an editor in the university's editorial office and was responsible for a variety of in-house publications, including The University of Liverpool Recorder. His short stories, which were mostly related to mystery and horror, were published in magazines and anthologies, often under the pseudonym of Frank Mace. One of his stories, The Man in the Raincoat, was filmed for the Alfred Hitchcock Presents series. He also co-wrote stories with Stanley H. Nuttall and Bob Shaw. Owen also wrote crime dramas and comedy plays for radio with James Parkinson. These were recorded for BBC Radio 4 and German radio. He was a regular contributor to BBC Radio Merseyside's arts magazine Close-Up.
