This letter continues the debate began with Liebert's review of Reade's tenth part of his Johnsonian Gleanings, located at ALR.B.1.12.2. This discusses issues arising from Reade's previous letter, dated 2 May 1948 and located at ALR.B.1.12.5. Liebert also gives biographical information relating to Elbridge Colby.

Attached to this letter is a photocopy of two pages from a book by Wyndham Lewis entitled The Hooded Hawk. This extract explains details relating to heredity, a prominent subject of Liebert's and Reade's debate, and to which Liebert makes reference in his letter. It is stamped on the reverse: ‘Photographic Copy Made by Yale University Library, May 17 1948 ’.
