| Summary: | The negatives show the Gypsy families known to Fred Shaw as a member of the Gypsy Lore Society. Many of the photographs are reproduced as prints in the photograph albums compiled by members of the Society, and in the Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society and details of these prints are given. Some photographs were reproduced as slides for use in the illustrated lectures given by members of the Society. Almost all negatives have contemporary dated and localized captions describing the subject written on the original negatives by Shaw. P1-289 were listed by Dorothy Blair (with PA2-40) c.1953; additional details, and details of missing items are taken from that list; Some negatives are noted as missing and not all sequences are complete. |
