Assistant Lecturer, Aeronautics Dept, Imperial College 1936-1938; Scientific Officer, Aerodynamics Division, National Physical Laboratory 1938-1946; Lecturer-Reader in Aeronautics, Engineering Dept, University of Cambridge 1946-1955; Professor of Fluid Mechanics, Engineering Dept, University of Liverpool 1955-76. The Chair of Fluid Mechanics was established in 1954. Professor Preston was the first holder. Since his retirement the Chair has been in abeyance. consultant to the Royal Aircraft Establishment and Admiralty Research Laboratory, Teddington, c.1940-68. |
