|Summary:||The files listed here include Prof. Edel's correspondence with academics and with industry both in the UK and the US.|
|Custodial History:||Prof Edel's files were originally deposited in the records management system in 1977. They were subsequently weeded of routine administrative material. A full list of the total files first deposited can be found, if required, in Archives file B4/5.|
|Biographical/Administrative Information:||Prof Edels held the Chair of Applied Electromagnetism between 1964 and 1976. In a memo to the Archives Unit in 1980, Professor Craggs, then Professor of Electronic Engineering, wrote, "... the Arc Research work which Professor Edels started in this Department has been one of the major research activities carried out here for the last 15 or more years and most particularly in the last 6 or 8 years, during which Professor Edels and his colleagues obtained large sums of money from the S[cience] R[esearch] C[ouncil]. I am confident that Professor Edels was the leading Arc Researcher in UK universities at the time of his death."|
