Papers gathered (or written) by Professor John Kenyon Davies as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (and Chairman of the Academic Committee) and leader of the project team which created the University's Plan for the Academic Sector for the period 1989/90-1994/95 (ASP3), presented to Senate in January 1990.

The papers comprise copies of University Grants Committee, Universities Funding Council and Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals circulars, statements, statistics etc; discussion, position, and other papers submitted to and considered by the project team; correspondence (with member of the academic staff etc); notes; establishments schedules for academic units; press cuttings; drafts of the Plan etc.

Also includes copies of the University's Academic Plan for the period to 1989-90, [1985]; Plan for the Academic Sector for the period to 1990 and beyond (ASP2), Dec 1987; and other background papers, 1985-1988.
