Summary:
  • 'Epithalamium, wherein the problem of Marriage is treated hortatively, discerptively, syllogistically, metrically, tropologically, & topically, to the confusion of Sundry Pedants. By R.B.' Manuscript. 3pp [Liverpool, 1887].The alleged author, R.B. is Robert Browning, whose style is parodied in this poem. On the verson of the last leaf is a note by G.H. Rendall: 'MS. original of Prof. W. Raleigh's Epithalamium composed for Staff Dinner to G.H. Rendall on the occasion of his approaching marriage - in March 1887'. The ms is not in Raleigh's hand, and the attribution is improbable on chronological grounds.
