Biographical/Administrative Information:The Pantopera was the Guild of Undergraduates Annual Panto Review. The first Pantopera was scheduled to take place in 1947 but after a couple of script conferences and a series of half hearted rehearsals it was left to die a natural death. It was only in 1948 and the intervention of the then Panto Secretary, Dickie Richardson, that Pantopera was established. Pantopera was developed under Ted Walsh and (Thomas) Brooke Benjamin and the intention was to create a musical show containing much of the Revue, yet having a central theme.Pantopera had no parent society in the Guild and had no allegiance to any one Faculty, it was open to all students to participate in.
