Biographical/Administrative Information:The ’Sea-swift’ was the first G.P.14 to sail on the River Mersey, being launched in May 1953 at Rock Ferry where Liverpool University Sailing Club was then based, the members of LUSC being cadet members of the Royal Mersey Yacht Club. Dr Yorke was Captain of the LUSC at the time. ’Sea-swift’ was constructed by members of the LUSC in the basement of the Gymnasium of the Students' Union and was constructed from a kit for £100.
