Biographical/Administrative Information:University College, Liverpool Athletics Club was founded in 1885 and had, for almost 30 years, Professor H A Strong as its president. When the University was founded the Club was using the sports field at Wavertree until land in the Calderstones estate was acquired and adapted to form 'Wyncote'. The club later changed its name to Athletic Union.
